Lemon Cake Spam
Dec. 19th, 2004 07:43 pmI've got a letter inviting me to a recipe exchange, so I've used this opportunity to send my favorite recipe of a lemon cake to someone. (if your got my email-invitation, that's it. I am participating in chain letters the first time ever.)
Then, I decided to share this recipe with everyone - because I really love it.
I hope I didn't do a too crappy job with translation, and the recipe is easy to understand.
Lemon Cake
2 cups of flour
1 cup of sugar
200 g of butter (1/2 pound (2 sticks))
1 lemon
1 teaspoon of turmeric
4 eggs
1 teaspoon of baking soda
vanilla sugar
3-5 teaspoons of lemon juice,
6 teaspoons of icing sugar
Grate the zest, and squeeze the juice out of a lemon. Beat together softened butter with sugar, vanilla sugar, turmeric, egg yolks, lemon juice and zest. Add flour mixed with baking soda.
Whisk egg whites and add them carefully into the batter.
Preheat oven to t=180°С (350°F). Grease the cooking forms with butter or margarine, sprinkle them with flour, bread crumbs or crushed nuts, and pour the batter into it. Put the forms into the preheated oven and bake for 30 min or up to 1.5 hours, depending on the forms – until ready.
Mix 3-5 teaspoons of lemon juice with icing sugar and drizzle the warm cake with it.
Edited to add temperature in F and weight in pounds.
