It’s autumn now.

So true. Also, coincidentally, the first phrase I’ve ever learned in English.
It is my favorite time of the year. The air is crisp and cleat The light has this wonderful golden hue – maybe because sun is lower, maybe because it is reflected from the leaves. Everything looks incredibly beautiful, and the realization that this beauty is fleeting adds a tinge of joy and sorrow. Every day is different – more leaves changed their colour or fell down, the ground looks different, the flowers are living their last days. The words fail me, unfortunately to describe what is it that makes my heart full, that brings a lump in my throat, and what makes me longing to see Russian countryside – the land of a perfect autumn – and to write poetry.
This is the season when I love to pick things up – useful and not – mushrooms in the forest, horse chestnuts, and motley colored leaves.
I also have to mention that today is my favorite day of the autumn: my mother’s birthday and, well, mine, too. I love the fact that I was born – the alternative doesn’t attract me at all.

Happiest of birthdays!
Date: 2004-10-10 03:34 pm (UTC)I heartily agree! And wow, we're practically twins, I see. Kinda. ;)
I'm so happy to have "met" you, and hope that before too long I'll be able to say that without the quotation marks. You're once of the nicest, funniest, most insightful people I've met via fandom--and that's saying a lot.
Hope you've had a great day so far, and that it only gets better.

Date: 2004-10-10 04:42 pm (UTC)I'm very glad to have 'met' you and I enjoy our little nationality-specific conversations in your LJ very much. It means a lot to know that there's somebody in LJ Buffyland who understands exactly some of the things I've been going through.

I couldn't have said it better. It's hard to pick a favorite season, but right now I agree that autumn is definitely a lovely season. The slightly sweet smell and the rustle of fallen leaves, the intoxicating color palette, the excitement and anticipation associated with the beginning of a new school year (for me it was like getting a fresh start at life every time), the autumn crop of vegetables and mushrooms.
