How Much Do You Trust Online Reviews?

Depends on topic, on place where exactly I found it, on number of reviews. On whether I know the filters through with the reviewer operates, their biases and preferences. I can trust somewhat when I have all this additional information.

How Do You Feel About Zoos?

Generally I am fine with modern zoos. My best friend works at the Moscow Zoo, and I know how much effort she and her colleges put into well-being of animals there. And while of course, animals would be better off in the wild, the sad truth is that in the wild they go extinct, victims of poachers, climate change, ecology problems, loss of habitat due to all kinds of human interference. Zoos do a lot for the conservation of species and when possible, reintroduce them back into nature.

What Could You Not Live Without? What Could You Live Without?

I honestly have no idea. I would hate to live without coffee in the morning, tea in the afternoon, a comfortable bed, nice and warm clothes. Without any connection to family and friends.

What Are Your Experiences With Severe Weather?

I mean, I am from Russia, but while I lived through some rather cold winters and such, my experiences were not particularly noteworthy. Moscow and even Saint-Petersburg are at normal level of severity, I would say. Toronto winters seemed so much nastier on comparison, and summers hotter and unpleasantly humid. Then I lived through the hurricane Sandy in New Jersey, and intense heat here in California.

How Close Are You to Your Parents?

Pretty close. Not geographically, sadly, but we call each other several times a week and talk.

What Are Your Favorite Commercials?

Some old commercial from Russian TV in 90s. It was all new, the was a lot of fun, experimental and memorable commercials.

Like this (it is for TV-Guide – type magazine)

How Well Do You Sleep?

Mostly fine, occasionally not.

What Would You Create if You Had Funding?

I want to say books, but I am at such a sad point that I don’t know. I feel that I would travel and write down my memories.

What Movies, Shows or Books Do You Wish Had Sequels, Spinoffs or New Episodes?

Lockwood and Co. I think it is a crime it got canceled - the book series is rather short, and the adaptation was pretty neat. It did well despite no marketing efforts whatsoever, and would have done even better.

Do You Like Scary Movies and Books?

Not particularly, but sometimes I am in a mood to read something creepy.

Really agree with you about Lockwood &. Co. I was annoyed it got cancelled. I liked that show.

Also interesting about Moscow winters not being that severe. I thought they were? Although I think my co-worker who hails from Moscow as well, may have mentioned that too.

And good point about zoos - they do save a lot of animals, and not all zoos are created equal. I still prefer sancturaries though.

That's much warmer than the Midwestern US - which had temperatures of 10- 15 below 0 F. And windchills around 30 below 0. Kansas was freezing in the winter - we rarely went outside. And we've had anywhere between -5 to 15 degrees F in NY. Although NY generally speaking rarely gets below 0.

Portions of the United States are colder than Russia, apparently. Alaska certainly is.

Animal and wildlife sanctuaries protect animals without necessarily having to hide them. Africa has a lot of wildlife sanctuaries, as does the United States. Also Australia and Canada. Most of the National Parks are. Granted we got poachers, and it's harder to protect them against those.
