Curious fact
Apr. 21st, 2005 09:22 pmI feel very manly when screwing in new light bulbs.
I am also known to enjoy chopping the wood and hammering nails in the wall.
____
Also, reading too many Datlow & Windling anthologies at once was a mistake. I am overloaded and hate all variants of Sleeping Beauty</>

Last week a woman came into the bookstore and said she was looking for the original version of Sleeping Beauty. I took her to the section with fairy tales and grabbed an anthology of Grimm and started babbling about how this was the most well-known version but that the story itself was far older and had many different variations, and I was seconds away from talking about how in some versions Sleeping Beauty wakes up as she's giving birth.....and then she said that she was looking for the original storybook of the Disney version of the story.

I don't really hate Sleeping Beauty, just tired of all the mutiple variations, and I quite like Disney movies - as movies. But to read it (theDisney version) as the original, when there are so many real ones, it is sad.
