There is never a good time to be Russian, it seems. With that in mind, I signed up for Diversity festival in my son’s elementary school to represent Russia and create the display about Russian Federation. Not today, but I keep thinking about that my decision today, as always. And you know what? F* it. It is the country where I was born and grew up. It is the culture that is mine. It is the history I am a part of. Why should I give it up? Why should I yield it to people I hate?

The theme of presentation btw: "Russia is the prison of the peoples"// V.Lenin Many cultures in Russia you probably don't know about.

I think this is precisely the most valuable time to show one's neighbors that Russia is more than just, you know. I hope the Diversity festival goes well! (I miss those Diversity / Family Culture days from when my brother was in elementary school. Weirdly my kids' school never put on anything like that among its activities.)

I agree with you. The United States right now - is hardly in a position to judge any country. The Russian people aren't it's politics. Any more than the German people were the Nazis, people have a tendency to generalize and demonize based on nationality. Putin and his administration is the enemy not Russia or the Russians.

Of course I'm in a unique position - living in NYC, in an apartment complex with a lot of Russian Americans, and knowing a co-worker who immigrated here from Russia. So I can it.

A co-worker (from the Dominican Republic not Russia) were talking today about how it was important to be kind to all humans, regardless of who they were. (Well except for the evil monstrous leaders of our countries who are abusing their power aka the Voldmorts and Saurons of the planet.)

Yup. Trump really only cares about Trump. It serves his self-interest to be friends with Putin. Also he wants what Putin has - and Putin has helped him get this far - by funding his efforts. Putin isn't pro-Russia either, Putin is pro-Putin. Putin wants what Stalin had. I keep wishing both of them would die from sleep apnea.

Quite right. Don't let anyone reduce you to the propaganda. The world is so much more complex. And Russian culture has given the world so much!

It's because it's not Pro-Russian, it's pro-Putin, which is not the same thing. Be like being Pro-Stalin, that's not Pro-Russian either. Just as Pro-Trump isn't Pro-American. MAGNA has zip to do with American Patriotism, it's a Trump cult.

American politics always felt a little like a TV show? Except now they jumped the shark.

Or rather, The Boys feels far too on the nose...
