Oct. 17th, 2004 05:40 pmBecause Everyone is doing the poetry meme.
I present my favorite poet Marina Tsvetaeva (One of the three favorite poets, to be fair.) I started to love poetry reading her, I started to read poetry for my own pleasure, not as a school homework with her, I guess, she influenced my own writing style, too (creative use of a dash.) I looked through Internet, and I found this translation of one of the poems I liked:
A frivolity! Dear sin,
Sweet companion and enemy!
It's a laughter in my eyes,
It's a dance in my blood.
It taught me to not keep rings
No matter who I have married.
To begin at random from the end
And quit before the beginning.
To be like a stem and a steel
In this life where we can so little..
To treat a sorrow by chocolate
And laugh to stranger's face!
translated by Erdene B. Huasai http://www.geocities.com/erdenechimegb/Marina_Tsvetaeva.html
in other news - I didn't want to write anything this week. I hope it will pass.
