because of aforementioned addiction I left a window slightly open when I left home. by slightly I mean palm-wide. Not a good idea.

I came home, the apartment is in the dark, as it is past 6 pm, and husband is not yet back from work. I go to the living room to turn on the lights,as...

I have:

1) a moment of shock as something alive jumps in front of me
2) five minutes of panic as I realize that this is a pigeon and try to get rid of him by waving my scarf and opening the balcony door wide
3) an hour of being very very annoyed as I pick up the pigeon's excrement in the most unusual places

the morale: screw the fresh air. kill pigeons.

eeek! totally random but my little sister would have freaked! she's so afraid of pigeons, you can't even walk straight with her on the streets in a big town because she's constantly avoiding them and running around in circles like a drunk...

yeah, in some places it would be impossible for her to walk at all! heh.

I don't mind pigeons by themselves - when they don't encroach on my living space, but I do mind everything that jumps on me in the dark. (which is why I don't get the concept of surprise birthday parties as I see them on TV.)

Hi!!!

Heh! Also, screw fireplaces. Blue jays have affinity for tumbling down the chimney. It certainly makes you reconsider cleaning out the ashes in a more timely manner. If you are lucky, the flailing bird collapses from temporary shock as you try to rescue it with a towel, and doesn't have time to leave abstract expressionist markings on your walls.

I like birds. From a distance.

Hi! Hi!

At least in fireplaces you still can rescue them. My grandparents always had birds stuck in chimneys at the dacha - both in house chimney and banya chimney. silly birds had no chances to get out. :(

and I like birds in general, but they do cause a lot of desctruction - even small parakeets that I grew up with.

Happened to me once in Virginia. Scared the crap out of me.

Still have PTSS.

Let us never speak of this.
