It is just the beginning
Dec. 25th, 2005 06:46 pmof the holidays, I mean.
That's why I decided to post some New Year / Winter icons that I made out of the postcards.
Apparently my main goal was not so much to improve the image as not to spoil them much.

Date: 2005-12-26 02:25 am (UTC)I watched the first LOTR disk. What a hoot! I like how they translated the names like Голый, Федор, Сумкин and my favorite so far, Агроном! And how other nicknames are these kinds of tangential references like Agent Smith. Speaking of tangents, that's my favorite part of what they did with the dailogue, going off topic and making pop-cultural references (both Russian and Western) along the way. Of course it's even more funny when you know the original. And the soundtrack! It slayed me with "Malchik Gay"&Frodo, and only got better after that. OMG, I just remembered, they used this song, "Иду, Курю," the one on your mix CD.
Also, I'm getting quite an education in modern lowbrow slang.
It's great fun all around. Only now I'm tempted to rewatch the original as well.
Thank you very much.

Date: 2005-12-26 03:56 pm (UTC)Yes, all the references and the song choices are what makes it such fun. My favourite moment in thefirst on is the Arwen's ride with Frodo. Also I learn about music currently popular in Russia from there, so, yes, educational.
now I'm tempted to rewatch the original as well.
Except now when I watch the original, I have the Goblin's translation and the soundtrack playing in my mind. ;)
