Weekend recap
Jul. 12th, 2005 05:28 pmThis weekend was plagued with my utter and complete lack of desire to do anything useful. I only managed to talk myself into doing the homework, reminding myself that I have a midterm test in two weeks in my real estate class.
I can’t say though that it was an unpleasant weekend – there was fun (reading) and games (World of Warcraft), there was food and wine, there was cycling and swimming, but then it was Monday and I felt tired and dismayed at the prospect of the working week ahead – and the prospect of the temperature not lower than 35 C for the whole week.
The highlights:
Fantastic Four – I didn’t expect anything – not knowing or caring much for the comic source of the movie, but I enjoyed it pretty well for the silliness and laughs and explosions it had. The ending was kind of slow and kind of lame, and I am not even planning to analyse the plot and the philosophy, but we spent two very enjoyable hours, and that’s makes me content. Am I too shallow and should have been looking for something in it? Whatever.
Two weeks ago, by the way, we watched Batman Begins, which I liked more than this one, but by now my recollection of it is rather hazy and uncertain. I wouldn’t mind watching it again some day or another.
The wine:
It is probably supercilious following the fashion in liking this or that type of wine, but I wasn’t aware it is a fashionable type when I noticed me preference for the rose wine this summer.
My drink of choice is a red wine. I drink the white one only on rare occasions when the mood comes. I have rather plebeian taste in that I don’t care much what goes with what, and will be happily drinking whatever I feel like drinking with whatever I feel like cooking. The rose first seemed a strange cross neither here nor there, but soon I noticed that I started to choose it in the liquor store more and more often instead of the red. It has the substance of the red, but not as heavy and can be served chilled, which is perfect in this weather. The next thing I know – I am following the new fashion, instead of being enterprising and strange. Oh well, at least the stores now have a great choice of the rose wine, all affordable.
The trip to the lake was just as good as the rose wine. We cycled all the way south to the CNE, where we unknowingly caught the Molson Indy race. THe race was very noisy, and probably spectacular. Then we moved to the West by the lake shore trail, until the Humber Bay park, where we stayed and read until the late. Then I cheated and went on bicycle only up to Bloor Street, where I jumped into the subway. Still, it was a good trip.
Why do I seem to be in the mood posting only on Tuesdays?

Date: 2005-07-13 09:25 am (UTC)Interesting! The trailer produced actual suffering for me, so I never figured to hear a good word about it. Maybe I'll take a chance and see in when I'm on vacation. Thanks for the tip!
