How come Nicole Kidman grew so ugly?

No seriously, I am puzzled. I used to like her looks - and I cannot recognize her.

(I've bought myself the People magazine - the best and worst dressed issue, out of nostalgic reasons)

The first impression: there is too much Paris Hilton
The second impression: Nicole Kidman grew ugly, and so did Gwyneth Paltrow (or is she always was?)

"the worst dressed" part is my favorite. it is where I've first seen David Boreanaz - before I watched Buffy and knew something about him.

Hee.

How come Nicole Kidman grew so ugly?

It's her eyeliner.

Seriously. She's putting it on a la 1960s, so she's got those pointy ends and it is *not* attractive on her.

And her hair is 'odd'.

But, it's mainly her 'cat-like' eyeliner.

Says the fashion-plate here! LOL!

Yes, the eyeliner is wrong on her, but there is something strange about her cheeks also - that gets her this glossy look.

And I prefer her with redder hair. it is definitely odd now - cotton-like.

I think many stars are encouraged to maintain a smaller body weight than their bodies are really comfortable with, through diet, exercise, and plastic surgery, and after awhile it starts giving them a stretched, pinched look. I also think that this type of star often has features that would look exaggerated on someone if we saw them off-camera, and that doesn't always age well, either.

You are right about the pinched look and the standards. Some stars (some people I should say) look amazing after forty nevertheless.

I think those are probably the ones whose image was closer to their actual looks.

If you look at Nicole Kidman from when she first appeared in Days of Thunder to now, it's incredible the transition. It's like she's got younger, and eerily less real. And I personally preferred the read hair.

She seems more like a doll now, and definitely her red hair ruled - as late as Moulin Rouge.
