Weirdness around me.

Today the phone rang. I picked it up - my father. I wasn't really surprised by the call, but apparently, he was. As he explained, he didn't call me, he called his brother in Kiev, Ukraine. He sounded genuinely surprised when he heard my voice, sure, but he is well-known for his practical jokes and ability to tell nonsense with a straight face, so the possibility that nothing really happened is great. But it is also possible the he did call to Kiev - he called from the cell phone, not ground line, may be that had to do with it. Or not. The call - all the technical noises around it were slightly unusual...

Mind boggles.

Another one: I did some icon hunt today - and I cannot access memories of any user, but myself. WTF? Did it happen only to me?

I want to do something with the look of my LJ. Any suggestions? I like the layout and the background picture, but I am not entirely satisfied with the whole thing. Have you seen it? [livejournal.com profile] avrelia

That's very odd - you should be able to access everyone's public memories. I use that trick to hunt down fanfic all the time!

I rather like the layout of your journal - it's simple and easy to read and all, and the colours are good. I have no idea what the background picture is of, though. It is a famous artwork? I have little knowledge of art...

Usually I can access memories easily - fanfic, icons, essays - but today it showed that the was no memories whatsoever - very strange, considering that they existed two weeks ago.

The picture in the background is by my second-favourite artist - Mikalojus Konstantinas Ciurlionis. He was a painter and a composer in Lithuania, end XIX-XX c. So he is not widely known. I'll probably do a post about him ano day with more pictures.

I once called my mother in Moscow, 5am their time... I was wondering why it took her a long time to pick up the phone. I was as surprised as her to hear her voice - I thought I was calling my friend in town and I simply pressed the 'redial' button, having forgotten that the last phone call I made was to Moscow.

Quite possibly that something similar happened in that case, too - my father pushed the wrong button on a cell phone, since both numbers are in its memories. Still, it was curious - to call in Kiev and to get to Toronto.
