Monologue-ing

I've noticed a tendency throughout my flist in these last months: we comment less. I comment less, you comment less, everybody comment less. I read (well, skim) my f-list almost every day, but too often I have nothing to add or just don't have time to write anything meaningful. I assume everybody else is plagued with the same lack of time. or a different lack of time. another reason is of course, that our interests diverge more and more - I cannot find time to watch much of the often-discussed movies and TV, many of you are hardly interested in small children (but they are very funny to look at!) we converge in the universal topics like weather (do YOU have as much snow as we?), health or politics (Russian, Canadian or USA - take your pick). So our entries look like monologues instead of heated or relaxed conversations of the bygone days. Or is it an illusion? I should go back in time and check, though it won't be telling - I never posted as much as I thought of posting. maybe it just seemed that way because we all discussed the shared interests more. Monologues or not, I love reading my friends and see what is going on in your life or just what do you read or watch nowadays. I love my friends (YOU), and I miss them when they disappear from LJ-world.

So, there: even if I do not comment, I am here, I read and I care.

but occasionally I feel like I am twelve and I really want to get comments. ;)

Comment!

And to make it a real comment, I wish you a very merry Christmas :-)

score! thank you, and a merry Christmas to you, too! ;)

I feel that I'm not as active as I was, too, but I'm still here and reading :;hugs you::

::hugs back::

but you are WAY more active than I am!

It feels like that to me, too. At home, I always have the girl around me. At work, I'm checking in on my phone. Between these things, I comment less, lurk more. (I'm always interested in small child things, though!)

[identity profile] avrelia.livejournal.com 2008-12-23 03:13 pm (UTC)(link)
we are all lurking, and all for good reasons :)

I'll be writing more about the kid, I hope - it is so funny to see how he find a lot of joy in the smallest things, like running around with his bunny or trying to mop the floor...

[identity profile] swmbo.livejournal.com 2008-12-22 07:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Ohh, I agree with you and obviously I *am* part of the problem! But you know, I think that's one of the reasons that I drifted away and am having trouble drifting back - I felt so less connected. Most of that *was* me, too - I wasn't commenting on nearly as many entries, even though I'd read them. And without that dialogue, you really do lose something.

So thank you for this <3 <3 <3

[identity profile] avrelia.livejournal.com 2008-12-23 02:17 am (UTC)(link)
amazingly, you are also part of the solution!

but less connected is the thing, you are right. I mean it's not like we all just now graduated from the college and got busy. We were busy all this time - but we still spent unseemly amounts of time here... and now we don't. and life is always a good excuse.

[identity profile] avrelia.livejournal.com 2008-12-22 08:50 pm (UTC)(link)

Yeah, it seems that way to me, too. Personally, I'm just more lazy and more busy. I used to wait until I got excited about something and then write about it on LJ. Now I don't even write about the weather. Heh.
It's not like I don't have things I'm excited about. Books, movies, politics, animals. I just got lazy. Plus oftentimes I watch certain shows with huge time delays, so I don't go back to comment on other people's posts.

And now I'm trying to spend less time online because my wrists are complaining bitterly.

I always enjoy reading about D. :)

[identity profile] avrelia.livejournal.com 2008-12-23 02:58 pm (UTC)(link)
I am trying to spend less time on-line, too - just to be able to spend that time on writing or baby or sleep ;) but in fact, I am often only redirecting my time into some other - new and shiny venues. Nothing of course can take the place of LJ in my heart, but they do take its time ;)

I should write more about D, then

I think part of it is all the holidays and moving (more than one on my list are moving) and even the economy crap is having an impact. I don't comment as much but that will change post New Year (I intend it to at any rate).

there are a lot of perfectly good reasons for each of us. But the truth is - I comment less for months, and it started to be a habitual mode for me. Of course it doesn't help that LJ doesn't always send me comments I receive...

I'm waaaaaaay past twelve and I *still* want comments :)

::hugs:: and the best for the holidays!

[identity profile] avrelia.livejournal.com 2008-12-23 02:19 am (UTC)(link)
the good thing about LJ is when you honestly ask, you always receive ;)

[identity profile] writteninstars.livejournal.com 2008-12-23 04:46 am (UTC)(link)
I love comments! And you're right, back a couple of years ago a person would post and instantly a dozen comments would pop up. It's not so much like that anymore. I know I read LJ as often as I can-multiple times a week for sure, but even though, like you, I read and I care, I just don't make the time to comment. Life has definitely kicked up a few notches here, but I will try to take the time to appreciate the friends I've made through LJ. Thanks for reminding me, button.

[identity profile] avrelia.livejournal.com 2008-12-23 02:40 pm (UTC)(link)
thanks for being there :)

this post is partly supposed to serve as a general comment that I read my flist, but commenting - just not happening. Another detail - half of the communities I am in are dead...even if they were so much fun once...

[identity profile] skylee.livejournal.com 2008-12-23 10:35 am (UTC)(link)
Hi!!

Same here - I've been lurking all this time and even though life things have been happening, and TV is being watched, I rarely post about them because I haven't really been commenting (but I still do check LJ almost every day and always enjoy your posts!) and I feel more and more shy about suddenly showing up somewhere. Also, you're right about feeling less connected.

Finally, hope you have a great X'mas and happy new year!

[identity profile] avrelia.livejournal.com 2008-12-23 02:21 pm (UTC)(link)
this post was worth writing if only to hear from you! ;) I am glad you here, even if less connected as we all are.

Merry Christmas and Happy Year to you, too! and how have you been doing all this time?

[identity profile] skylee.livejournal.com 2008-12-25 02:09 am (UTC)(link)
I'm been well thank you! Doing part-time studies on top of work, so quite a lot of time went into that...and I've met a boy (been together about a year now), so even more time went into that:)

I may do a post to update soon! :D

[identity profile] avrelia.livejournal.com 2008-12-29 07:41 pm (UTC)(link)
it's great to hear! I wish you much luck in studies, work, and love!!!
