Thank you, I’ve got your e-mail and read through the text. Which left me deeply ashamed of all things I should have noticed myself. I have still miles to go with writing in English, but I am happy that the story seems worth writing.

I tried to get both the Slayer and her Watcher time-appropriate opinions on each other countries, so that’s where their jokes come from. The Masons’ mention is basically unnecessarily, just to give a flavour of time, and I liked the idea that the Watchers’ Council pretended to be a Masonic society.

The curse – often attributed to tsarina Evdokia – is an actual urban legend of Petersburg; and the flood in question did happen – I didn’t have to invent much. ;)
