Fanfiction writing vagaries
You know, in Russian there are phrases about stating the obvious or rediscovering something well-known: "To discover America" and "to re-invent the bicycle". I know the corresponding English phrases, but Russian ones fit better to my relationship with writing fanfiction at the moment. I mean I know a lot of you have been writing fanfiction for years, and I've just started so all the delights and frustrations are totally new, yet familiar to me.
Put something on AO3 and them maniacally check the number of hits and jump with glee with every kudos, get frustrated when no counter is changing. Get satisfied that my WIP epic is being read by fifteen people (I love you all!) and work to put a new chapter a week for them. Get confused when something trifling I finished in a couple of hours has a ton of hits and kudos in a day...

I haven't had such drive to write for a really long time. I am really enjoying the process, walking around acting out dialogues and pretending it's nothing, researching random stuff, all that..
